VERTICAL PREPARATION:
PREDICTABLE ESTHETICS THROUGH BIOLOGY
LECTURE
Vertical preparation represents a modern and versatile approach in restorative dentistry, designed to preserve tooth structure while achieving highly aesthetic. Unlike traditional horizontal finishing lines, vertical preparation allows the clinician to manage soft tissues and prosthetic emergence profiles in a minimally invasive way, respecting the biological width and enhancing periodontal integration.
The biological perspective emphasizes the reproduction of natural dental anatomy and biomechanics, aiming to restore not only the appearance but also the function and long-term stability of the tooth.
By combining advanced adhesive protocols, new ceramic materials, and precise digital workflows, vertical preparation can be integrated into daily practice with predictable results.
OBJECTIVES: At the completion of the course, participants will be able to:
-
Understand the biological and biomechanical principles of vertical preparation, including its impact on soft tissue management, periodontal health, and long-term restorative stability.
-
Identify clinical indications, treatment protocols, and material selection criteria for integrating vertical preparation into restorative workflows, from tooth preparation to final restoration.
-
Apply a biomimetic approach to vertical preparation, combining adhesive dentistry, contemporary ceramic materials, and digital technologies to achieve predictable functional and aesthetic outcomes.
