Restoring posterior teeth is about 80% of our daily practice, and most cavities are of CL II type, so it is all about restoring a healthy and functional proximal anatomy, which means creating correct side profiles and most importantly the height. In fact the proximal ridge is the geode plane for occlusal table with its centric and eccentric movements. So understanding the matrix and the tools that are being used is the key to a successful posterior restoration. This lecture is a summary of all the CL II types and the modern concept for the matrix selection.

PREDICTIVE DIAGNOSTICS IN DENTISTRY

During this lecture we will discuss what the oral microbiome is and how an imbalanced oral microbiome can cause local effects such as perio and decay as well as systemic downstream effects such as low grade chronic inflammation and bacterial superinfection. I can cover the most recent research into the mouth body connections like heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer's and infertility and how these mechanisms work. I can then discuss how we as clinicians can test the oral microbiome and how we can integrate the use of things like supplementation and probiotics to improve our patients' outcomes.

EMULATING NATURE

Nowadays, dentistry tends towards minimal dental preparation. This trend is even more pronounced when it comes to aesthetic treatment. Patients request for aesthetic treatments without any dental preparation. One of the most conservative ways to solve this situations is using a direct approach with composite resins. Mastering direct composites is a challenging process that requires training and experience. To perform a meticulous case planning and a working protocol is essential for obtaining predictable results and long-lasting treatments. An acurate planification and analysis of the situation will lead to achieve natural results when performing a direct stratification with composite resins on the anterior teeth. For this reason, this lecture will describe the key points for obtaining excellence in anterior composites smile makeovers through a biomimetic and non-invasive approach. Understanding nature for a predictable natural teeth emulation.

DIGITAL TOOLS IN DAILY RESTORATIVE PROCEDURES

Adhesive indirect ceramic restorations in the posterior region are a reliable and long-lasting solution for restoring moderately and severely damaged teeth, offering strength, durability, protection and esthetics. Utilizing contemporary adhesive systems, restorative materials and precise techniques, indirect restorations give us the opportunity to restore and protect while minimizing tooth preparation and preserving healthy tooth structures. Take a deeper look in the important biomechanical concepts, preparation protocols and adhesive techniques regarding the complete process of delivering a reliable indirect posterior restoration.
